Το Ινστιτούτο Μεσογειακών Σπουδών σας καλεί, την Τρίτη, 10 Μαρτίου και ώρα 20.00, στη διάλεξη του  Prof. Andreas Vött (Institute for Geography, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität, Mainz) με θέμα:  Palaeotsunami research in the Eastern Mediterranean: Case Studies.

Sedimentary and geoarchaeological evidence of palaeotsunami impact are presented and discussed for the Lake Voulkaria, Akarnania, the bay of Argostoli , Kefallonia and the bay of Aghios Andreas, Western Peloponnese. Multi-proxy analyses reveal repeated tsunami landfall of high magnitude. The average recurrence for Western Greece is estimated to be 500-1000 years.
