Lecture: · Title: "Saussure's Terminology: formalizing a Paradigm Shift in Science on the Semantic Web" · Date and time: Monday 4 November 2024, 20.30 · Venue: Room 7, Faculty of Philosophy, Gallou Campus, Rethymno · Abstract: This presentation will examine the key aspects of Ferdinand de Saussure's terminology work and its formalization in the onto-terminological resource SIMPLE_FdS. The architecture of this resource is largely based on the SIMPLE model and is rooted in Pustejovsky's generative lexicon theory. The presentation will also address the challenges and solutions for representing the diachronic aspects of this terminology within the context of semantic web technologies.

This hands-on session will guide participants through the principles and practical applications of OntoLex-Lemon, a de facto standard in Computational Lexicography to build linked data-based lexicographic resources in accordance with Semantic Web technologies.
