About the Event

The University of Crete’s TALOS Lab is pleased to host the 4th TALOS PhD Meeting, a vibrant, cross-disciplinary forum for TALOS doctoral candidates and early-career researchers. Participants present pivotal research papers, receive structured peer feedback, and showcase contributions across the TALOS research spectrum. These meetings aim to foster dialogue, encourage collaboration, and provide a safe, constructive space for refining scholarly work. The PhD meeting will be recorded and made available on TALOS YouTube channel after the event. View full Programme here

The 4th edition also features a keynote talk by Assistant Professor Antonios Angelakis (Department of Political Science, University of Crete) on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), Technology Transfer and Innovation: From Ideas to Market and Society (see abstract below).

Title: Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), Technology Transfer and Innovation: From Ideas to Market and Society

Abstract: Technology transfer is essential for turning ground-breaking research into innovation with real-world impact. The seminar will provide valuable insights on topics related to strategic management of Intellectual Property Rights, technology transfer, innovation management and research exploitation. The seminar will also provide detailed information on distinct categories and types of technology transfer and innovation processes. Concurrently, a major part of the seminar involves the up close view and understanding of the innovation value chain, in congruence to a special emphasis given to emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, open innovation typologies and innovation policies. Participants will gain practical knowledge on strategically managing science-based research results, deriving from Universities and research organisations, across commercial pathways and towards the marketplace and societal challenges.
