Dodona Travels to Ithaca and Back - Lessons from Testing AI in Greek Epigraphy

Invited lecture

The TALOS Lab (KEME/UCRC), University of Crete, is pleased to announce an invited lecture by Dr. Elena Martín González (Assistant Professor, Department of Classical Philology, University of Valladolid), which will take place on Thursday, 19 March 2026 at 15:00 (Greek time) at KEME/UCRC and online.

In her talk, Dr. Martín González will present results from the NextGenerationEU-funded project Dodona Travels to Ithaca.

The lecture explores the application of the AI model Ithaca to the oracular tablets of Dodona, one of the most significant corpora of ancient Greek inscriptions.

The lecture will be of particular interest to scholars working in Digital Humanities, Ancient History, Epigraphy, and Artificial Intelligence for the Humanities, as it highlights the evolving relationship between computational approaches and traditional philological research.
